VENDIA Modular Display Typeface

Brief

This brief required developing an original modular typeface and presenting its complete execution as an A1 type specimen poster and Behance showcase. Grounded in a clear Design Intent, the project called for establishing control letterforms based on a repeatable grid system before expanding into a complete uppercase alphabet (A–Z). The design needed to draw inspiration from shifts in visual culture, balancing precision, legibility, and geometric unity for high-impact display applications.

Outcome

The result is VENDIA Display, an uppercase modular sans-serif built on a custom vertical Venn diagram grid system. Drawing inspiration from Marcus Leis Allion’s icon grids and postmodern design versatility, the letterforms incorporate grid-controlled bowls, vertical stress, and circular counters derived directly from intersecting inner circles. Iterative refinement transitioned initial heavy circular concepts into a highly adaptable 26-character system with pinched crossbars and subtle stroke contrast. Tailored for bold visual communications—such as posters, signage, and abstract branding for niche businesses—the project was presented through a comprehensive type specimen and Behance process showcase highlighting its geometric rhythm and structural craftsmanship.
